(51,974 posts)Well, unless you've been barred from federal office via impeachment and conviction. So Donnie could do that, at least in theory.
For most people this would ruin any campaign, but today's republicans and the media would insist he's a political prisoner and they'd eat up that angle even if he were in prison for cheating on his taxes.

(2,371 posts)...that precludes a president from holding office if he/she is convicted of felonies or is incarcerated. So I'd say the answer to that is yes.

The needles I want moved are from lawyers with guts who can put together a case, or several cases to charge the guy and his minions with manslaughter for all the people they killed due to willingly lie and do nothing to prevent the national pandemic to grow as much as it did. They can bundle a bunch of them, including DeSantis, Abbot, the woman from South Dakota, and you know the rest.
