(9,895 posts)They are beyond "fear". They HATE women who dare to challenge the homogeny of the patriarchal social structure in the Koran.
It is a bit too flippant, but the silly Star Wars line from Yoda "Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hate and Hate leads to Suffering" is a little too true here. They may have started off afraid, but they are well along the path to once again inflicting suffering on Afghan people and especially women and girls.
There is nothing we can do about it unless we are willing to erase their culture and kill them all. 20 years of trying to establish something resembling the west has failed and 20 more or 50 more or 100 more years without ripping out the root of that particular weed (Sharia law Islam) will change that.

(9,895 posts)Sharia Islamic law is no doubt the root cause, but I don't think fear of women is the motivator. Maybe deep-seated fear of being exposed as less qualified or capable than women at developing a society eats at them, but their abuse of women is more violent than a fearful act.
As for the sex part, we have the whole "incel" sub-species of little boys (and emotionally stunted grown-ass 'men') on the internet who fantasize about rape and torture of women and use terms like "hate-fuck", so I am pretty sure that hate is present in a lot of these imbeciles' minds, including the Taliban and Afghan men or Islamic men who think this all A-OK behavior.
Either way - I think we can agree that regardless of reason, their treatment of women and girls is an affront to civilized society - the same a genital mutilation, honor killings and everything else they impose on females.
