4. I still have doubts that an antitrust lawsuit will succeed against Facebook

simply because they are an optional virtual service on the internet and one which can be replaced by some other virtual service being offered by some other company that appeals to people more.
Take the DU itself for example, its an entirely optional forum which many of us enjoy but it could potentially be replaced if someone would offer something that appeals to most of us here.

Have no use for Facebook or Twitter. I keep getting notices, but very seldom answer on Twitter. Facebook I avoid like the plague.

For some reason Facebook is on my phone. I look at the family pictures.

I am totally burnt out on Social media and the MSM. They are muckrakers of the worst kind. Cable news really exposed themselves in this latest crisis. Dragging on every Republican, war hawk and hate filled thing they could find. Attacked our President like rabid mad dogs.

Only Nicole, Ari and Rachel showed them up. Karl Rove and Liz Cheney criticizing the President for ending their 20 year failure of a war. Not a word about Trump signing the agreement with the Taliban!

Please excuse my rant. I am a nervous wreck, developed hives last week. The only relief I get is here on DU!

10. Oh, I certainly agree with you

I certainly never considered joining Facebook, they let conspiracy theories and RW craziness thrive there unabated. After the Cambridge Analytica scandal broke - which was reported here extensively - I can't imagine why anyone would go near it. And it was started by a guy who appropriated photos of women and asked his friends to rate them - Good Grief! I do know of a few friends or relatives who joined, but I figured they don't follow the news enough to know any better. *sigh*

But I do belong to Twitter, joined up when others on DU did, but I never did anything with it until the 2016 DU election day hack took place and I was able to find out there what was going on. What I mainly do with it is pass on Tweets I see here on DU or check to see what my senators are doing, that sort of thing. Oh, and I participate in a dog rescue site.

Other than that, the only site I belong to besides DU is GasBuddy which keeps track of local gas prices. They used to have a forum and (gas and auto related) news articles, but all they offer now is keeping track of gas prices. And they have a drawing for a free gas card every day, but I'm realistic since the participants are comprised of the U.S. and Canada, LOL.

And I certainly understand your anxiety. What has happened in the past months - in the past 4 years - in this country is nothing that we previously imagined and absolutely the worst since the South seceded. We have never been so divided, but that was the fault of an unqualified bigoted grifter inexplicably seizing power and using the office to advance his personal interests, to the detriment of this country. That this could happen here makes me incredibly anxious, too - but I feel I'm better off being informed. And it does help to be able to learn from and commiserate with those who feel the same way.

11. The only reason I joined Facebook

Was in the early stages with a small group I knew well. It was full of information from friends, recipes, etc.

But now I understand family feuds have alienated families. It is all out ther cop or anyone to see. For some reason they said I had disabled my account. My Grandson said they did the same thing. He did not are and neither did I.

I get emails when certain people post, like Thom Suddes, a writer I have followed for years, Connies Schultz, another writer. But I read, seldom answer. I read them here.

On the misinformation about the vaccine is killing people. They need to be sued and held responsible. Twitter ,too for allowing Trump to spread his lies for so long.

to police it's members, and banned at least some of their worst offenders. Facebook is still the wild west after all these years, and Zuckerberg seems to align himself with the rabid right, doing little or nothing to control the rampant misinformation on it's pages.

I hate Facebook like I hate the Corona virus, world hunger, cancer, war, and the republican party combined.

But they allowed it to go on too long. Facebook is an abject failure and needs to be penalized, heavily.

Now, we are reading about Journalist's losing their high paying jobs hunting for the worst they can find. I especially noticed Richard Engel, one I really respected doing that this week. He did a bit on just how bad it is in Kabul.
