Now, it's kind of like one of those Indiana Jones movies, where the good guys are racing to get out of a would-be dungeon before the door slams shut. Will the door slam shut on American democracy? I sure hope not.

A strong voting rights bill should have been the first thing the new Democratic congress did, but they, under the leadership of Joe Biden, put it off in favor of bills that would provide relief to, and curry favor with, the American people. It seems like the Democrats are always cowering to placate a powerful Republican spin machine. If they had passed a strong voting rights bill right off the bat, it would have been spun as a fascist, autocratic Democratic takeover of the government, and our democracy, no doubt.

Let's face it - poll after poll shows that the vast majority of the American people are sensible, rational people, and favor Democratic policies. And ensuring that they have a voice at the election booth terrifies the heebie-jeebies out of Republicans.

It’s that most of these suppression legislation that state gops are passing takes control of that states electoral points so that the party in power (gop) can give them to who they want not who won that states popular vote. Had these bills been in effect in 2020 trump would be president now because Az, Ga, Wi would have given their electoral votes to him even though Biden won the popular vote.

But remember the Orange Maniac isn't the youngest guy around. I would like to think his goons and supporters wouldn't have nearly as much influence in 2024.

A lot can and will happen between now and then.
