Donald Trump is warning other GOP figures to not challenge him for the nomination, but also saying they never would because they would drop out. This shows Trump is worried about a challenger and wants a clear field.

(7,429 posts)They all know that he's a scourge on the country. They all know that he'll fully destroy the nation. They all know it. Hatred for him must be growing by the day. And yet no one will challenge him.
They're all waiting for the indictments to drop. They're hoping that they'll drop. If there are no indictments (somehow!), their fear will grow. Then they'll convert to Trump, entirely. Trump has intimidated the entire GOP into submission. He'll prove that he has them where he wants them NOW. NO ONE will challenge him.
If the indictments drop, Trump will ignore them and dare any LEA to arrest him. He'll threaten to activate his civilian "militia." The LEAs will back down.
Damn. This sounds like an absolute nightmare. But we're almost there.
No one wants to be right about this kind of scenario. I want to be wrong. If indicted, Trump may not refuse to comply, and he'll get his just desserts. But he presumably believes that he can take over complete control of the GOP. And he must also believe that he can control law enforcement. All of it. With every passing day, it looks as if he's right.
So. Where are the indictments?

(48,935 posts)There is a question of how much fight they would put up, and how many people would get killed, but he would be arrested, even if it took the military. It might spark off idiot uprisings all around the country, but a neo-Qonfederate rebel's wet dream of a civil war it would not be. It would, though, be a BFD.
