Manchin Pulls Plug On U.S. Clean Electricity In Biden Budget Bill: NYT - Ali Velshi - MSNBC

Even as the Biden administration presses ahead with an ambitious East Coast wind farm plan, the New York Times reports that Joe Manchin has rejected clean electricity elements of President Biden's Build Back Better bill at the core of his climate change agenda. Aired on 10/15/2021.

but won't vote to remedy some of the underlying issues that cause the poverty in the first place. It's as if Manchin were a doctor and he had a patient come in with a gaping, bleeding wound. Instead of sewing it up, Dr. Manchin decides to slap a bandage on it that has to be replaced over and over again. Several doctors have agreed to sew the wound up, but Manchin stands in the hall and blocks them every time.

Manchin is afraid that if he closes the wound, he won't be able to charge the patient for any more visits. Never mind the fact that Dr. Manchin is already quite wealthy and could charge his patients half price and would still make plenty of money. "Hey, I ain't runnin' a charity," says Manchin.

So you see that greedy, dipstick Sally doesn't give a fuck about this country or our world. It's only about making huge deposits of money into HER bank account.

Manchin is Manchining with disregard of ANYONE except for his masters and his family and for himself, so you know he doesn't care. Hell, he's never cared about the state of West Virginia or about this country or climate change and we know why.

The mostly corporate media can't want to get their hooks into a GQP/US Taliban Party who has signaled that they'll be impeaching Biden for nothing and Harris also and any other Dem they see fit to Impeach. Ratings GOLD for the corporate and extremely thirsty fuckers, and that's what we'll have IF if there IS a GQP/US Taliban Party running the House and Senate, which will effectively meant that this country is GONE. I totally agree with Malcolm Nance who said this on the Stephanie Miller Show this past Wednesday. Like I say, they'll be impeaching Biden, Harris and any other Dem they see fit to impeach or hold in contempt of 'something' they'd make up. They'll pass legislation that they can that will wreck this country beyond repair. I keep hearing poeple say to stop being so negative, stop talking gloom and doom, but seeing as Manchin has this party and country by the gonads, same for Sinema, and nothing can be done to stop him or her, what am I supposed to think Good, happy thoughts, and especially with elections coming up in 1 year and about a month?

I gave Merrick Garland an extremely wide berth, because he was thrown into 1,000 viper's pits of shit to clean up after fatso left it that way on purpose, but seriously WHERE is Merrick Garland?

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/jul/20/joe-manchin-big-oil-democratic-senator

Joe Manchin owns millions of dollars in coal stock, founded an energy firm and Exxon lobbyists brag about their access to him. Republicans fundraise on his behalf.

As “thousand-year” heat waves caused by the climate crisis rock the west coast and biblical floods engulf major cities, Senate Democrats are negotiating a $3.5tn budget package that could include an attempt to slow the use of fossil fuels over the next decade.

One prominent senator is very concerned about proposals to scale back oil, gas and coal usage. He recently argued that those who want to “get rid of” fossil fuels are wrong. Eliminating fossil fuels won’t help fight global heating, he claimed, against all evidence. “If anything, it would be worse.”

Which rightwing Republican uttered these false, climate crisis-denying words?

Wrong question. The speaker was a Democrat: Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

West Virginia is a major coal-producing state. But Manchin’s investment in dirty energy goes far beyond the economic interests of the voters who elect him every six years. In fact, coal has made Manchin and his family very wealthy. He founded the private coal brokerage Enersystems in 1988 and still owns a big stake in the company, which his son currently runs.

In 2020 alone, Manchin raked in nearly $500,000 of income from Enersystems, and he owns as much as $5m worth of stock in the company, according to his most recent financial disclosure.

Despite this conflict of interest, Manchin chairs the influential Senate energy and natural resources committee, which has jurisdiction over coal production and distribution, coal research and development, and coal conversion, as well as “global climate change”.

Nor about destroying this country/world. He doesn't care that the GQP/US Taliban Party will wreck the place and I really mean really WRECK THE PLACE BEYOND REPAIR if they get the House/Senate in the next mid-terms. You think he'll find 10 GQP'ers to go along with his voting rights bill? Hell to the naw, naw, naw, naw.

He's got his money, money, money and power. That's all he cares about, and living peacefully out in the water on his luscious Almost Heaven luxury yacht.

No, I think they'll continue on the road that made him wealthy. As they are sipping champagne on their yachts paid for in the will of granddaddy, they will raise their glasses and toast his memory.

We are looking at a total collapse societies and economies around the world. Mass migrations in search of water and food. One half of our country is borderline desert right now. A lot of the east coast will be under water and flooding will destroy crop land. Huge storms will destroy property.
When Florida is under water it won't matter what party runs the state. Miami already runs pumps to keep the sea water out.
The reason people from are running to our boarders now is because their economies are already failing!
MONEY WILL BE WORTHLESS. There will be no champagne because there will be no grapes.
NO I am not a doomsday nut. This is the path we are on. Trust science and spread the truth.
THESE EVENTS ARE NOT SOME DISTANT HORIZON.
His grand kids will spit on his grave only thing is it may be covered with water.
Consider this. Society fell apart in a matter of hours after Katrina. That folks was just a small localized sample of coming events.

The point I was trying to make is that his grandchildren will be just as callous, just as greedy as their grandpaw. Rather than bad-mouthing him and his practice and myopic views, they will praise him for giving them a comfortable lifestyle. And, you know, their wealth will protect them from a lot of that apocalyptic future most of us will face.
