Manchin Probably Shocked, Maybe Embarrassed, That His Voting Rights Bill Got No GOP Votes - TRMS

Rachel Maddow reports on the voting rights bill that Senate Republicans filibustered to failure, and points out that this was the bill that Joe Manchin wrote himself in place of the Democratic bill because he said Republicans would vote for it and not use the filibuster. No Republicans voted for it. Aired on 10/20/2021.

And in return he should go ahead and vote for S1 as it was originally written, suspending the filibuster to do so.

But he won’t. Because he’s the greatest Democrat of all time.

I think he's FoS. There is only one solution to this problem. Will he use it? I doubt it.

... I think this was a fairly "clean" bill. There was nothing in it that Republicans could hate... no free abortion with proof you voted. I thought it wouldn't get ten Republicans... but NONE? I thought 3-5 was very possible. Maybe this will be good for Manchin - help him see the bipartisan hopes are dim. And good for Biden - help him move to get more involved. I don't like it when they keep bringing up bills that don't pass, like Schumer is doing with this... but maybe he has a bigger plan.

Senator Manchin will not be re-elected. He has gone waaaay out of his way to haul in an actual shark, drag it's shark carcass to a place in the halls of congress (where the buffalo people roam) and he has jumped it. Before the whole world he has jumped that shark. Let's see Senator Sinema top that!

Just as long as he FINALLY realizes what he (and the rest of the Senate Democrats) are facing on the other side of the aisle. They are not your friends. They are not your colleagues. They are not American patriots. They are not even reasonable people. They are rigid right wing ideologues who (surprise, Joe!) gain NO ADVANTAGE WHATSOEVER if every eligible citizen is allowed to cast their vote. THAT is why they voted against your bill, Joe.

No one can force Manchin to admit the truth, but he can't change the fact that no Republican voted with him, either.

Manchin was staring at an empty field, and somehow hoped he saw a city.
He has finally been forced to admit that there is no one there.

President Biden's agenda, I think we are screwed.

The "supreme court" ruled money is the true voice in our democracy. So it's very hard to be optimistic.
