I just watched a couple of the videos about protocol and what actually happens with prop guns, and I'll reserve judgement about fault.

he should be criminally culpable?

Nothing I've heard thus far puts him in any but the inadvertent cause of a very sad and tragic accident that will haunt his life forever forward. I know how I would feel in his shoes and thus I have to extend sympathy.

What have we missed?

heard exact details. Do you have more information than what little I have read so far? He’s not exactly my favorite actor and have read in the past about his temper, but what I have read thus far it’s, an accident.

don't understand why they make prop guns in which real bullets can be loaded.

Plus it helps the actors to have something live to react to. They have CGI space cannons cause real space cannons are more expensive than CGI. Google "uncanny valley". A CGI gunshot and gunsmoke and gun recoiling (and gun-arm recoiling) would ruin the illusion in the movie.

Why pay more for something that looks worse? They should just follow the proper procedures and safety routines for dangerous equipment, just like with any other job.

.... for the investigation to play out to eliminate the possibility of sticking my foot into my mouth. I will offer this information 4 others to consider before condemning and blaming Alec Baldwin for this unfortunate turn of events.

Snip:
Prop Master Job Description: What Does a Prop Master Do?

The prop master oversees the prop department, meaning they’re responsible for the production, maintenance, and inventory of any and all props. (A “prop” is anything used by the actors during a performance that is movable ie -- a coffee cup, lightsaber, money. Scenery, costumes, and electrical equipment are not props.)

I'm giving Alec the benefit of doubt until I'm given a reason not to. None of us were there and I doubt we know the full story. Thanks for the link.

I am glad to provide any factual information that may be helpful.

Accusing Alec Baldwin or for that matter, anyone else at this stage of the game does not qualify as factual information. As you have stated, none of us were there.
