My comparison was to the "Peacekeeper" oxymoron, a nuclear missile used in war.

(5,732 posts)I am studying Italian, and like most languages, sometimes expressing a thought takes a different or special form. For instance, "I like bread" becomes something like "Pleasing me is bread." Or, "I am sixty years old" becomes "I have sixty years."

In Latinate languages, the adjectives come after the noun, requiring you to hold that thought until you get all the descriptions in place. Example: "big red dog" vs. "dog big red,"

(21,618 posts)There was a famous scene during Trump's meeting with the Pope, in which Francis starts making light conversation with Melania in Italian.
And she just stands there with this tortured grin - obviously not understanding un cazzo of what Francis was saying!
Luckily for her, it didn't take long for one of Francis's aides to notice, and he discreetly started translating behind her - at which point she started in with her "ah - si, si"s.
