Northern Ireland commemorates 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday - Al Jazeera English

Fifty years since one of the worst massacres in Britain, residents in Londonderry, also known as Derry, have marked the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when British troops opened fire on civil rights protesters and gave way to decades of chaos in Northern Ireland.

On January 30, 1972, a British elite parachute regiment shot 14 Catholic marchers dead on the streets of Northern Ireland’s second-largest city.

I asked him how he managed and he said he knew where the trouble spots were and avoided them. But these were peaceful protesters and were shot for just showing up, many of them young people.

1970 - 1974.

America is on the way to ending up like the UK of that era.

To deal with urban/domestic terrorism.

Infrastructure is too vulnerable, population too diverse, access.to explosive materials and weapons relatively easy.

Add to the mix all of the Afghan/Iraq war veterans trained in tactics...
