so I'm glad for a duplicate.

We don't all live on the east coast and we're not all early risers.

Duplicate away!

9. People! I frequently don't see the original posts so this is OK with me. Still, I wish DU had a way

to suggest that a post is of the same content.

Personally, I try to go to the abominable google search to see if someone had mentioned something that I might want to post.

Doesn't work well, is a horrible interface (lose window focus), feel an invasion of privacy (google).

I get offended for some other reasons, but we need to state our points and move on the the next topic.

I've enjoyed your postings whenever I see them. I just don't always see things right away (tend to look at Latest Threads).

Personally I think DU could support a far richer system for each of us to mark new threads that we might be interested in.

...I am not even slightly chagrined at my impolite retort. I understand the sentiment when there are five different posts on the same story at the same time, but a video that's a bit off the beaten path for most people over the course of weeks?

Maybe it's my perspective: I post a collection of political cartoons almost every day. There is at least one other person who does something similar, plus random other people who post cartoons that I'd already posted several days before. I don't feel any need to comment about duplication or take any action at all beyond hitting "rec", because if they felt the need to post it, it's a fair bet they hadn't seen that it had already been posted.

People have different schedules, people live in different time zones, topics can fall off the first screen quickly. Stuff happens. No harm, no foul. Better that more people get to see it.

LBN has rules about duplicate posts. V&M does not. As I noted above, I understand some annoyance with repeats of a hot topic, but obscure ones? Over a span of weeks? If anything, that circumstance makes me feel even more justified in giving a surly response.

If I remember correctly a couple weeks ago there was a post showing the Russian MREs being 5 or 7 years past expiration.

10. This is a million times better than the food in my Earthquake Kit.

There was some dried up stuff that neither my dog or my friend's pitt bull would even lick, let alone eat.

The Red Cross Earthquake stuff was beyond nasty. This food looks good, like in the old days when airplanes actually provided food, which I loved.
