Thom Hartmann: Do Right-Wing Nuts Need Guns Against Government?

Do right-wing gun nuts really need automatic weapons and military assault rifles to help protect themselves from the government? Our founding fathers say no.

I was actually discussing this with a friend, who's a self-appointed 2nd Amendment champion
and NRA booster; who sadly buys this line of BS that Thom is calling out, and dissecting in
light of the true intention of the Founding Fathers.

but he needs to understand that it isn't government that the cynics such as myself are worried about, but instead the wealthy elite, the bankers and the corporatists and those with their own private armies who have plundered us. They have been permitted to become unelected proxies of own government. They want the sheep fighting each other for the privilege of being disarmed.

While the corporate media has changed the dialogue from the greed of the elite to firearms, their corporate buddies continue to own our leaders, send working class to war with propaganda, maintain control over the sheep, and possess their own military weaponry and soon to be drones. They have red phones to the White House to call in chits too. They and the rising potential of fascism are what we need to be concerned about. Those who think not live in Disney World and not reality land.

At the present pace of change the corporations will have their own security and arm of law enforcement that can do what they wish to the huddled masses, just as they do with alleged Walmart shoplifters.

Would Lloyd Blankfein and Wall Street prefer a disarmed America? Of course they would. As elites they want a disarmed populace (see my byline) They have a different set of rules and will never ever be without private security, or disarmed and poor? I'm surprised that so many intelligent Americans are sucked into their propaganda.

Populist, Progressive, and Libertarian supporting the unconditional rights of average people. Corporations are not average people.

the fellow interviewed sounds "a little off" in his reason for owning a gun. I do own a gun. I am well trained. Unfortunately, I live in an area that is "less than savory" and have felt threatened in my own yard more than once. Having a weapon helps me to sleep at night. Unfortunately, my government cannot help me at 4:00 am if someone is standing over my bed. Hopefully, one day, I will be able to relocate and safely sleep "weapon free".
