1. Maybe Progressive Christians do need to speak up to their fellow Christians and show them

Why Jesus would be a Progressive and how the hypocritical right has never wanted their religion, just their votes! We non-believers need to exercise tolerance and not attack our fellow Christians on their faith.

2. "Attack" ?

How bout I promise not to "attack" "fellow Christians" (whose fellow?). Seriously--might we non-claimers-that-there's-substantiated-evidence-for-deities get a pass from chritianists, if they would tolerate we "non-believers" by allowing escape from fiery perdition by the god they claim to know.

but-- we know in American and Western culture it is proper to tolerate piety for piety sake--makes accepting insane, irrational and oppressive tendencies so much more palatable--but certainly not tolerable.

3. I have been pushing

this same subject I have been arguing for weeks on another religion and faith board. A self professed 'real' Christian has been chastising me for showing the news items that show how awful the Christian Taliban really are. He is telling me that these are not real Christians and I should make sure I point out that with every post.

But at the same time, he should only tell these people they are not correct in a small and quiet voice, not telling them publicly they are wrong.

they need to put up or shut up. The Christian Taliban has hijacked the religion an as their mentors, the Islamic Taliban, they go to extremes to force all to bow to their edicts. Without any uprising, or even a complaint, it appears those who profess to follow Christ are in agreement with the extremists.

I do know there are differences in spite of the lack of explanation. But it makes it more difficult to show those differences.
