Last Word Rewrite: David Wheeler's testimony speech (receives standing ovation)

David Wheeler, father of Ben Wheeler - a victim of the Sandy Hook massacre, spoke Wednesday at the last of four public hearings by the Connecticut legislature's Bipartisan Task Force on Violence and Public Safety. His words bring logic and thoughtfulness to the current gun safety debate.
This clip is from The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell 30 January 2013

I am hoping this man will run for office in the future.

And get on with the business of life and living, they just do not get the impact. This is a sad time in the US, I cannot imagine how they deal with their loss.

to listen to that. Truly. Those are the only words I can muster up. But I can kick, rec and forward.

Dire situation. Clear thinking, non-bullshit to say it even more clearly. May the words of David Wheeler trump "crazy Wayne" every friggin' day! Come on folks, lean on the Prez and Congress right now to get the right job done. Oh yeah, thanks Tx4Obama, great post.

I like the fact that he did not mention the NRA and he should not have, as the NRA has shown that they do not want to be part of the solution. K&R

He hit it right on. It was in the "intersection" part. It was riveting.

And then I showed it to my son this morning. His reaction was the same as mine, "That was perfect."

All through his testimony you could hear his voice beginning to crack, but he never broke down. He was eloquent and poignant, brave and inspiring.

Then, when they showed the photo of his little boy, I couldn't hold in the tears any longer.

GODDAMN THE NRA!!! GODDAMN THE MONSTERS WHO ENABLED THE SICK INDIVIDUAL WHO TOOK THAT PRECIOUS BOYS' LIFE, AND THE LIVES OF HIS FRIENDS AND TEACHERS! GODAMN THEM TO HELL!

Every time I think I can't cry anymore about Newtown, the tears just well up again and again.
