They both have their place. There are times when CN is appropriate where STH would ruin the mood.

Stairway to Heaven, even though we've all heard it a zillion times, and technically we're all "sick of it," the beginning part with the flutes is still evocative, when played at the right time such as the last hour of daylight, when long gold beams of sunlight come in through the window. Then you "feel it again" and remember why you liked it the first time. By contrast, Comfortably Numb just sounds like a wall of gray fog to me.

Then again, Stairway to Heaven makes a better slow dance - it's long.

Reason: It's a good tune and 'Stairway To Heaven' is much much too cliche and overplayed ( even if it's technically a good tune too )

because it's not so overplayed it's become a parody of itself. Srsly. I once heard a parody rock DJ say "Zep. Stairway."

The lyrics are something I can really identify with, and Dave's guitar solo is every bit as good as Pagey's and much longer. They're both great songs, though.

It's part of The Wall and relates to its themes of alienation and insanity.

STH pales by comparison.
