And the good news is that the illness that laid me low last week is NOT tick borne disease.

I thought I had caught the flu. I had chills, fever, aches and just a general blah feeling, but I didn't develop the cough, runny nose or sore throat that usually accompany the flu. Then I remembered finding a tick on me a couple of weeks ago after I had been to the woods. Uh oh! Checked online and sure enough, I had all the symptoms of tick borne illness. That can really be serious and the effect can last for years.

OK, go to the doctor, they take blood and preliminary results show a low white blood cell count and a low blood platelet count, both of which are indicitive of a viral infection or tick bite infection. Got the results of the tick bite panel back today, and while they can't tell me exactly what it is, they can tell what it isn't. What a relief! Once I finish the round of antibiotics, everything should be fine.
