R.L. Burnside's version is pretty great too, but I can't find a good version on Youtube.

Maybe we should call the cops and try to stop the pain
But Monopoly is so much fun, I'd hate to blow the game!
And I'm sure it wouldn't interests anybody

(2,224 posts)I listened to 'How late'll ya play til" a lot in late 70's and/or early eighties. (It's kinda hazy)
I saw him live at a small venue for a very enjoyable concert.
Also, I recently saw a documentary on him.
NNadir
(33,456 posts)...before he was really famous in a small university auditorium. He did Mr. Bojangles, solo. I was hooked.
He used to play with his electric band quite a bit at "My Father's Place" out on Long Island in his big electric band phase. I always used to show up as early as possible, because you seating at the tables was first come, first served. I remember one night there when he did "Sharon," where he quite literally made his guitar talk, during the dance portion of the song, "Then she looked right at me..."
He made his guitar, some kind of slide/electronic effect say, "Daaaaaaaavid, Daaaavid."
Acoustic or electric, solo or with a big band, he was always fabulous.
He always used to bring the house down.
He was great live, absolutely great.

(45,435 posts)Jason got real pissed
About all the guys she kissed
We're goin' down, down, down to the ditch
Where she said she hid
What's left of Jason's head
When you wake up with the sun
Your whole world will be undone
Like a bullet in a gun
You'll be waiting to be sprung
Jason's head will not be found
Keep it buried in the ground
Remember, stick to your plan
Wipe the blood off of your hand

(33,456 posts)I once worked it out on the guitar, and was thinking of playing it in a club back when I performed, with reference to the rule that no one but Billie should ever sing it, because I thought the song was being forgotten, but I couldn't do it. I had to respect the rule.
It was so powerful, and to think of it now, that the country is being run by racists, is much worse.

(23,943 posts)...at least 30 years ago. Probably longer. Definitely a catchy tune, and that is some truly awesome piano playing.
The lyrics now make me sick at heart.
