A question about eBay, if this is an OK place to ask.

Retired, decided to bite the bullet, downsize, and eBay a bunch of stuff. I decided to put one little item up for sale and ask my GF to buy it, just so I could be sure that I had all my ducks in a row with eBay and PayPal. No shilling or any funny stuff, just wanted to be sure that I hadn't overlooked anything so I wouldn't get a negative report right out of the starting gate with my first real customer.

When she tries to "buy it now", eBay is unresponsive. Could this be because we use the same Internet connection and the same IP and eBay is flagging us as fraudsters?

On edit: Turned out the answer was right in front of me. Looks like eBay, when it sees the IP match, sends you directly to a page that's not the usual page for items. "Buy it now" just won't work there. The good news is that there are no nastygrams in my eBay inbox, so I guess I don't have to go to eBay confession.

Thanks to all who replied.

You can ask ebay. I think you can call them but you have to look on the website for the number wasupaloopa Nov 2017 #1
It is because you are on the same connection. It's forbidden. Lil Missy Nov 2017 #2
Is that so you can't run up the bids? (n/t) PJMcK Nov 2017 #3
Yes, you can lose your account for doing that. Lil Missy Nov 2017 #4

I'm not a big eBay user and don't really know all of their components.

Enjoy your weekend!

According to eBay you can sell "buy it now" items to friends and family, but not have them bid 'cause that would be shilling . That doesn't get you over the same-IP hurdle though.

Example: right now my IP address is 173.239.228.91
the hostname of my internet connection is 'ip-91-228-239-173.router.siliconvalleywifi.com'.
in California.

except I am not in California, I am in Alabama, on a vpn which masks my computer footprints/IP address.

I'd send a message about your issue, and am sure they'll respond.

I'd like to just say, I have bought many, many items off eBay and only had a couple problems.
When I did have a problem, the seller, eBay, or Paypal made it right immediately.

And, no, I am not a seller on eBay.

Typically I'll search Amazon for what I want, read the reviews, and then find it cheaper on eBay.

Best of luck to you.
Let us know how it turns out.

I have bought a lot of things successfully on ebay and only had issues with a few things where the seller fixed it right away.

I have sold a couple clothes on ebay but not really a "seller" lol and it was a pretty smooth process.

And totally agree about using Amazon for reviews. I pretty much always go to Amazon for reviews on most things before buying.
