I am feeling a tremendous amount of hatred for this country

this country exposed me to radiation as a child-I had a life time problem with thyroid. Lost 3/4 of my thyroid to cancer. My country informed me after 60 years of age. What were they hoping? That I would die before they had to tell me? Exposed to radiation...what do you think if it were you used like that?
Next my older daughter died from a perfectly preventable medical condition...she just needed medication but not being rich enough to pay a doctor bill she died from lack of this country giving a damn about human life...oh, yeah and she was WORKING at the time, no medical coverage. The state of Washington told her since her income was $700 a month she was $3 over being medical helped. For that stinking little her 14 1/2 daughter found her dead one morning. When I think of Canada's medical system she would have never died.
My children didn't get medical/dental care even though I was working (paid so god damn little that rent, food, car repairs were the only things I could cover and not always the car repair to get to work. My country let my child die for lack of money and shitty paying jobs. And you want me to love and honor this killer of my family.
Now I have two infected teeth from lack of care. Oh you say why didn't you take of your dental needs? I tell you why, I needed shelter and food. I made an attempt to seek dental care from a Community Clinic. I found out I've been billed $80 I already scraped and paid $45 to seek dental care. I live on $970.00 per month, (social security-I am 77 yrs old) I do not get rent help or help with winter heating. Rent is usually at least $1000
where I am located. I live with someone else to survive monetarily. ...
Now my significant other is dying from cancer. He cannot get pain meds until Monday from the VA(money again). E.very day I fear my car will need repairs that I cannot cover. He has to travel by bus to the VA. Is there something else you can torment me with? Because I do not have the funds to meet these needs. At this moment I am feeling stress, fear and hatred for a country I was born in...because it has told me I don't matter a damn...suffer, you don't have the money to live

... there are people who have to live like you are. Your daughter died because she couldn't afford medical care. Even though she was working. SHE DIED. IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Because she couldn't afford medical care.

How is this accepted? Why do people, poor people even, see how much better life is in other countries with just that one basic right, and still oppose it? I just don't get it.

Could this list be of any use to your SO? https://www.va.gov/HEALTHBENEFITS/vtp/map.asp Not all states have a transportation program, unfortunately, although maybe his VSO, or his VA's social worker or ombudsman, could help him find a local volunteer program, if one exists. I'm so sorry he's dealing with cancer and with pain.

I loathe the way that a person's value seems to be tied to their financial worth. This is certainly not the only country where that applies--it's probably that way in most places--but I would have hoped that the US would be better than that.

In the richest country on earth, people shouldn't have to spend every day as a struggle just to survive.

God I hate this country ... and I am an atheist. My problems are also health related. Bipolar disorder to be precise. Talk about a dumpster from hell there. Mental health is poor in the best health care systems around the world, so you can imagine what that means for here. So, I can sort of sympathize. Anyone with chronic health problems can. I am sorry about your financial and life situations. Because of my health issues and the system here, I’ll never have kids. I had a friend with Lupus that never really could get proper treatment due to lack of insurance. With her health constantly failing, she committed suicide about ten years ago. That really destroyed that family. I don’t think I could take the stress that some of you parents out there have to endure, so I choose to skip that part.

Like yours, my issues have been with me forever. I am closing in on 40, and for 30 years I have really never had what I would call a single day off from this horror. For many with my condition, the depression is just not treatable at all. After enough time passes, you really cease to be human anymore. Unfeeling. Uncaring. Just more shades of grey because everyday is the same. Like Groundhog’s Day from hell. Medications are either a combination of not covered, not affordable, or just plain don’t work. Not to make light of the big ‘C,’ but I sometimes wish for it to show up and wipe me out.

Let’s face it, this is not a compassionate country, and I venture to say it probably never has been ... at least not for very long.

Well, it’s bedtime. I can’t wait for that alarm clock to sound and play that same old song again ...

I am thinking of you. I am sending you good energy. It may not help, but it can't hurt to know someone is thinking of you and wishing you better. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear child.
