Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo...I've been really sick.
What I thought was just IBS flares wasn't. It apparently is my gallbladder. So, I got something for breakfast that I have never had before. A bowl of fruit from Chick Fil A and a non fat DECAF latte from Starbucks. I'm a little sad, but honestly, if it makes me feel better, I'm all over it.
I spent the entire day at the hospital yesterday. I was getting a HIDA scan and the gallbladder took HOURS to show up. I got there at 11:30. They started everything early, but then the gallbladder started to be stubborn. They left the catheter in my arm, and I wandered the hospital for three hours. It finally showed up and they finished the scan after it finally showed up. So, I'm probably going to have to have my gallbladder out. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but to me, by the time I got to the end of the day, I was a little bit hysterical, exhausted and had a migraine from no food for 20 hours. I said screw it and had Mexican food for dinner, which, with the help of my meds did not hurt me one little bit. Food is my comfort, and after the horrible day, it really made me feel better. I fell into bed at 7 last night and didn't wake up until almost 7 this morning when my little chihuahua Poppin started giving me kisses to wake me up. It was time for breakfast.
Anyway, I just wanted to share with you guys. Hope you guys are well.
Hugs and Kisses,
Duckie

(59,440 posts)I'm considering having mine removed also. It's a pain to live with. Good luck with your surgery.

(19,736 posts)...I'd get it done. One less thing to worry about. They say that I'll have to cut out a bunch of stuff until it is all healed, but it'll be worth it to just feel better. I'm tired of feeling shitting all the time. I want to be able to live my life and if this will help that, I'm all for it. I hope you aren't dealing with too much pain. I hope they gave you good drugs like I got. I'm so mellow today I'm finally relaxing, which helps with the other symptoms. Just much better all around already.

(149,517 posts)Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about all this trouble for you. I hope that the surgery will go easily, and that you'll be able to enjoy your food again!
It's no fun when our bodies turn on us...
Feel better, OK?
YellowRubberDuckie
(19,736 posts)I will. The drugs help A LOT. If nothing else, I'll be losing some weight which will be helpful all around. I've just been dealing with it, and soon I hope it will be all done so I can get on with my life. My body has hated me for quite some time now.
Thanks for being so sweet.

(41,932 posts)Be careful not to ignore bad symptoms. I damn near died from pancreatitis, but once they got me well in hospital and took out the gall bladder (laproscopically; you'd never know) I was right as rain. I have to be careful about fats but that's a good thing anyway.
Hang in there. Your body doesn't hate you; it just needs you to take good care of it.

(19,288 posts)People have thought it was a heart attack from all the refered pain. It hits me in the middle of my spine, like my ribs are out of place.
YellowRubberDuckie
(19,736 posts)I thought I was having a heart attack. Then I did some research and son of a motherless goat if ALL of my symptoms didn't point to my gallbladder! I hate that I have to wait until Wednesday, but the meds seem to be helping the pain. I've been very mellow today. I ate fruit for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for lunch and haven't had much of a problem today. Tonight for dinner we're having veggies and pasta. We'll see how that goes.

(130,724 posts)GB removal no big deal; had it done 10? years ago, fortunately didn't experience anything as uncomfortable as you did yesterday, BUT docs were trying to remove a stone (before I said, 'get the whole thing out,') so that took a while. Was in hospital bed, so no wandering around in discomfort.

(19,736 posts)I was like, why can't you just admit me to manage my pain, hydrate me and do the test. Then just take it out? They wouldn't do it of course, but I was out of my head with pain and pain meds Thursday morning before yesterday's bullcrap. So they'd rather have me wandering around in misery. Seems sadistic. By the end of the day I was hysterical. I was a mess. Poor girl probably thought I was crazy. She distracted me by asking what I was reading on my Kindle.

(2,560 posts)I had my first major medical problem 18 months ago - not gall bladder, but septicaemia - not much fun either.
So, all the best. And have a bit of Mexican for me.

(3,445 posts)Well, it's a simple enough surgery, and you'll have to watch what you eat for a while, but it's definitely doable and so much better than something else.
Take care and get some rest!
