What's your favorite xmas ornament?

What's on your tree this year, and what's your favorite? Pictures would be great!

My serious stuff, the personal and treasured ornaments, are still in storage. But I've made do. I'm all about rustic, living in a log cabin. So my tree is always simple and nature related. I use small branches full of pine cones from our own trees, real walnuts and almonds glued on sisal string, lots of birds, animals, little wood birdhouses and sleds, some fake fruit, and little grapevine wreathes. The only sparkle is some copper snowflakes. Topper is a rusted copper star and a big burlap bow. Luckily, we have vaulted ceilings so we can have a 7' tree.

Here's two of my current faves--a fabric horse, and a bird's nest with eggs (also fake, but nifty). And yes, its a real spruce tree. When I take it down, it will go to the pond for bird and small animal/fish habitat. I tried a few years to go with a tree that I could plant afterward, and they just didn't do well with our wood stove.

I love the rustic, natural look, too. Unfortunately, I have cats, so no Christmas tree for me, as they believe they are my most favorite ornaments! I do have a very small live cedar tree that had to be removed from the spot it was in, so I'm going to put some tiny (fairy garden) ornaments on it. In the spring, I'll find it a more appropriate location in the front yard.

So far, knock on wood, they've left it alone. One of the Great Pyrenees however, felt the need to pull one of the new sisal alpaca's off, and chew his ears off.

A t-shirt, a smashed penny, a fridge magnet, and a Christmas ornament that has something to do with the place I've visited. Sometimes, the best I can find are stuff that's made in China for whatever attraction I'm buying it at (like the Alamo). Other times they're handmade but not that original like a small Xmas tree inside a piece of glass made by the expert glass guy at the North Pole Amusement Park in Colorado (a place I visited as a child and then again two years ago when I went on vacation). Other times, they're just silly like a corn cob with a hat and a beard I got from the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, but they remind me of places and people I've visited over the years.

A few years ago, mom passed, and she was a packrat. We came across all the Xmas ornaments we had growing up as a kid - at least the ones that weren't completely broken. I took them, and I plan to go through them in the new year. I hope that I can get repaired a musical bell - you pulled the klaxon, and as the string it was on rewound, it played a Christmas tune, like a music box. It's just a silly piece of plastic, but it brings back a lot of good memories. The one thing I wish we had kept was a gingerbread house. Actually, I don't know if it was a gingerbread house as it was completely covered in white icing with little square candies making up the roof tiles, etc. It was made by a family friend, but I don't think it was preserved well. After about 10 years, it was disintegrating so we tossed it. I loved that thing.

My favorite isn't as original and unique and yours. It is a set of trumpet playing cherubs for the mantle. I just love them!

What a nice little Fabric horsie! And the little bird's nest is lovely!

The only tree I'll have this year is the little 4' artifical one I put in the big planter on my front porch. Since most all of the neighborhood has some exterior lighting, garland, wreaths, single candles in windows, etc, I feel compelled to conform. So wreath's on the front door, candles in windows, garland on porch railing, and the lights on my potted tree. It's Wmsbrg.

I just don't have the energy to drag my big 7' tree out of storage; it takes me a whole day to assemble and decorate the thing! (Hubs has never helped me! I do miss having it because I love Christmas trees. I'm putting a little garland and lights on my 6' Norfolk pine in my living rm. It'll be tacky but at least a bit festive. That and a poinsettia will have to do it.

I am a "penguin collector" so many of them are penguins!

But my very favorite ones are the construction paper ones with glitter that my eldest daughter (now age27) made in pre-school!

It has a 1, a bride and groom, and a little plaque with my name and someone's name who is not my husband.

I think she was drunk when she got it engraved and didn't realize the name was wrong.

Still makes me laugh 30 years later

This was part of a necklace my Mom used to wear back in the 60's, had matching earrings and a tiara ! She would wear this jewelry every New Years Eve with silver glitter in her hair and a basic black outfit. I can not have a tree (2 cats) , so I make a wall display and hang my little New Years Eve disco ball on the wall display. I hang it every year, in her memory. Mom would have been 95 today. Thank you for letting me share.

my plastic tree and ornaments are all gone now, because I had them in storage and had lost my job, lost all my storage stuff.
