Hubby and I got our phones and setting them up has been a huge project. We're on our land line calling Jitterbug (or Great Phone) customer service line working on the process. It's been maddeningly difficult for us to get used to this thing.
I am hoping I am not the only old person who is befuddled...

(23 posts)For my grandfather we just went with the regular flip phone. I'd stick with that instead of a gimmicky one you see advertised on television.

(57,319 posts)The phones start at bout $15 and go up from there. A year's worth of service (400 minutes that don't expire for 365 days) costs $99.95.
There's no contract.

They have smart phones now, and they have a "bring your own tablet" plan too.
They have phones with large buttons for people who find Blackberry keyboards (to cite an example) too tiny to be of any use.

(26,251 posts)It is not a fancy phone - a pretty basic model. When I had a problem figuring something out, I called their customer service and was up and running in no time. Can't say enough good about them.
The kids are happy I am now in the 21st century texting universe, but now they want me to get a bigger, more "robust" phone. Baby steps, I tell them. Baby steps.
Hope you get up and running soon! Have you checked to see if they have a storefront, anywhere near you? I've seen one right down the street, from me so I know they are out there.

(26,251 posts)I love that I can stop by the local Target store for help, too. I'm not a big phone user so I am on a very reasonable plan. And now they switched to unlimited texts. Not that I'm a big one for texting, but there have been times it has come in handy.

(63,893 posts)Customer service has been great. A very patient guy helped us today. We're almost completely set up and I'm sure we'll find it easy as we get used to it...
