He almost coked his way into the Stones
There was a dispute about his death - buried in Florida and his tepfather gets his size able trust fund. Buried at Joshua Tree and no money.
His buddies stole his from LAX and ended up setting off a gas fire in the dessert.

Some trivia for you...

...the original cover for "Grievous Angel" was supposed to be something like this:

...but with Emmylou Harris on the seat behind him. I never saw the proposed cover...not sure if this is from the same photo session, but you get the idea.

Gram's wife, Gretchen Parsons Carpenter vetoed that. I don't follow a lot of music gossip, and don't know if Gram and Emmylou ever had more than strictly a musical partnership, but his wife wasn't happy with the cover.
