I cant separate who I am now from what I got from Kerouac. I dont know if I would ever have had the courage or the vision to do something outside with my life or even suspected the possibilities existed if it werent for Kerouac opening those doors. - Jerry Garcia | Remembering Jack Kerouac who was born in Lowell, MA on this day in 1922.

(8,756 posts)Kerouac was a tortured soul and imperfect man.
A book I really enjoyed (that sent me back for a reread on many Kerouac works), was written Cassidy's wife, Off the Road.

(7,395 posts)In my life I have lived a block away from Jack's house in Orlando, Fl and also where William and Emily Harris (Patty Hearst) lived in Bloomington, IN. Never new about either until I had moved in and would not have cared anyway.
