(202,970 posts)I'm not a baker, but my mother was. She made great pies, apple, cherry, pecan, mincemeat, pumpkin, chocolate cream, but I never once remember her making blueberry.

Anyone who uses lime juice should be sent to the same McDonald's with everyone who puts tomatoes in clam chowder.

I always make one for myself for my birthday. I'm fortunate that peaches are in season that time of year.

(4,178 posts)I'm fussy about apple. Homemade is so differen than a bakery.
I will enjoy pumpkin made in a grocery store, but apple has to be homemade.

(14,565 posts)I don't miss the Las Vegas buffets so much except for the daily availability of pies like that. Caesar's Palace always surprised me by fielding key lime pie.
I also love apple pie a la mode but the ice cream has to be cold and not warmed up. I can't imagine ruining that pie via a drippy ice cream puddle.
