I have a theory that I would like some help with. I believe there is no food in existence that could not be made better tasting with either bacon or chocolate (or in some rare cases, both, but not necessarily at the same time).
My challenge to you, DU Loungers, is to come up with a food item that would not be improved with the addition of either bacon or chocolate.

Bacon's good with lots of things, but I think it would ruin a nice creme brulee.

(2,231 posts)Despite your objections, I'm going to go with chocolate on this one. Not a lot, perhaps a swirl on top.

(2,231 posts)(with the notable exception of the already exceptional bacon ice cream) gets chocolate on top. I will admit it might be a bit odd at first with green tea ice cream, but I stand by my assertion.

(2,231 posts)I shall endeavor to find some and try it. With and without chocolate and/or bacon.

Bacon wrapped lemons aren't good.

(2,231 posts)That's MORE BACON! And honestly, have you ever tried chocolate covered bacon? Yum!

(55,007 posts)I could eat bacon WITH pie, but it wouldn't be good in or on fruit pie, and chocolate doesn't work there either.
wysimdnwyg
(2,231 posts)It's the same theory as to why that swirl of raspberry sauce you can get with certain chocolate desserts works so well. It does require moderation, but a small amount of chocolate can be very nice with a slice of a fruit pie.

(13,421 posts)I can't get my head around bacon or chocolate--either one--on or with Tuna salad. I know some folks eat other combinations that would gross me out, so maybe that tuna salad exclusivity is just me. I dunno.
YMMV.

(24,146 posts)i once had some maple bacon infused vodka once and it was terrible
wysimdnwyg
(2,231 posts)Perhaps chocolate, but how to combine. I would suggest making a chocolate flavored vodka is not the best idea. Perhaps some type of chocolate ball infused with vodka. Like a rum ball.

(24,262 posts)Wouldn't be kosher!
wysimdnwyg
(2,231 posts)As bacon itself is not kosher, the presence of Matzo balls is irrelevant. However, if you remove the kosher requirement, bacon is easily an improvement. Of course, if you remove the Matzo balls, chocolate by itself can be kosher. (I would guess there are some manufacturing requirements for that.)
If you must have kosher and you must have Matzo balls, my suggestion would be turkey bacon. Surely that could be made in a kosher fashion. (Although I admit it would skirt the rules of the original premise a touch.)

(2,231 posts)I'm not sure how you would actually combine bacon with tomato juice, but I would think eating bacon while drinking tomato juice would help the experience. (For the record, I don't care for tomato juice either.)

(12,132 posts)so it's not that far a stretch to put it in my tomato juice.
