65 mph gusts, 50+ active events on the 911 reports page and power outages galore. I just missed one at the plant nursery. No sooner did I get the change from my purchase than everything went dark.
The wind is blowing so hard, the traffic lights are almost horizontal, making it nearly impossible to know whether it's safe to proceed! I approached one that was obviously out, and stopped to allow for oncoming traffic. And I was the ONLY one who bothered to stop. Everyone else was just racing though. No doubt an accident will be showing up at that intersection, soon.
Hopefully this area can make it though the next few hours with power intact!

(31,926 posts)Why is it that when a traffic light goes out, people bthink that gives them the right to plow through an intersection as if to say OUTTA MY WAY!! It's like common courtesy just doesn't exist anymore.

(7,499 posts)Strong down here too. Not sure as bad as you. Had an intense rain storm come up very rapidly. Kinda laying low myself. Wife says we're gonna lose power. Who knows?

(26,251 posts)I guess the weather fronts must have missed their connection.
They did so much equipment repair, replacing and tree trimming after the big ice storm of 2013, we've escaped any major outages, in my part of town. Before that storm, outages were an irritatingly regular experience.
But I've learned to not let my hopes get too high.

(26,251 posts)When I checked at 1:30 there were around 1100. Now it's over 1500. A whole lot of small outages, but a few pretty substantial areas are down.
I lost my cable/phone/internet for about an hour, but so far have not lost power. I'm not even going to THINK about starting dinner until the wind substantially dies down.
