Know anything about "Directv Now" ?

I just found out about DirecTV Now.

It's from the AT&T 'Direct TV' people but you stream the channels via the internet without the satellite dish.

60 channels begins at $35 a month and it can be watched on a computer or with a free adapter you can watch it on your TV. My current Comcast cable is going up to $138 a month.

I'm tempted.

Has anyone tried it?

Live part of the year in a very rural area where satellite is the ONLY option. Use DTV. No internet thru them now because of their caps and because don't want to pay the rest of the year when I am not there.

Use a Verizon hotspot gadget for the net. But too much data use for downloading streamed programs.

In my area it's the best streaming service. In my humble opinion. I use it in conjunction with Netflix and Amazon Prime for a very impressive TV package. There are specials it where you can try it for$10/ month for three months.

6. Their base packages are cheaper, they have good recording capability, directv now has had

recording capability in beta for some time now, plus in my experience direct tv now had a lot more buffering problem as sling tv, and is more solid content

Sling has two basic packages, blue and orange for 25 and 20 respectively. Recording is 5 dollars more, and blue allows mutiple streams, but the main reason is because the software seems more solid to me than direct tv now

The only way i would personally go for direct tv now is if I had a bundled package with them with cell phone coverage, where they give a discount on direct tv now

Hulu plus for 40 dollars a month includes recording, and as a good selection of channels, plus I believe that price also includes standard HULU

They all offer a free trial so see which one works best for you

PLUTO is a free service with very limited channels, but does include MSNBC and is fee

I always like to hear what others experience is in case I decide to dump my Directv satellite package. I've watched Pluto, not bad for free. I watched a movie called Sound City (I think that was the title) and learned something (where they got the dog on the Rick Springfield "Working Class Dog" album cover). The Pluto app was an already installed freebie on my Roku stick.

....it can ocassionally be glitchy, but overall it's a great alternative to much more expensive cable packages.

We had cut the cable cord 3 years ago and had just gone with Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime and then an antenna for network channels (we're only 20 miles from a city so signal is good). But when ATT offered the discount on DTVnow and it included HBO Now (or is it HBO Go? I forget).

Anyway, it's not perfect but it basically would save you quite a bit and you'd still have access to a lot of channels.
