A hike at Brookville Lake/Whitewater Memorial State Park in southeast Indiana. Buncha pics.

Today Jen and I decided to go to the Brookville Lake area near our home in Indiana. It's about a half hour drive out there. There are two parks and two lakes right there together- Brookville Lake and Whitewater Lake. Whitewater Lake is much smaller than Brookville lake and that's where we decided to have our adventure today. There was a fee of $7 to get into the park for Indiana residents. It's $9 for you outta-staters. That'll fix ya.

There are a number of hiking trails around the park and we decided to take the Memorial Loop. The park literature said it was 2.5 miles, but Jen's Fitbit said it was nearly 3 when we got done. We took a lot of pictures this time. This trail was much more scenic than the one we hiked at Hueston Woods State Park last week.

The Memorial Loop trailhead.

Jen on the trail. She's such a cutie.

A picnic area overlooking the lake.

A pretty creek.

Down by the lake.

Me on the trail.

On a hill overlooking the lake.

Say cheese!

Much of the southern end of the state near the Ohio River is hilly and wooded. But most of central and northern Indiana is quite flat and was deforested long ago for use as farm land.

A real forest with big green trees and plants, and water running every where is a feast for my eyes. Thanks for showing us you, Jen, and your lovely photos.

I've got a friend from out west who visited me one time in the summer who was also impressed by how green everything was here. The leaves just started coming out in force here in the last couple of weeks or so. They are not yet in full bloom!

P.S. Green is my favorite color.

It is beautiful! We really want to go back, but haven't had the chance. We like Metamora, too, which is not far from there. Nice pictures!

It's an interesting little town, but a lot of the shops and attractions were closed when we went.

I lived in Bloomington for 25 years and miss southern Indiana. The Deam Wilderness is a really nice hike, and if you haven't been to Clifty Falls and Madison you should check them out. Thanks for the nice pix, I can almost smell the forest.

SO spent time in Richmond and we used to visit on occasion. Between her work schedule and mine, it seems like we haven't been out of Indy in ages.

Thanks for the pics!

We really need a vacation, too, but it's going to be a while before we can take one. In the meantime, we do things like this to feel like we are taking a little mini-vacation. It's also about getting more healthy. Jen and I are both losing weight.
