Spring, what's that??

Here in the US heartland, we seem to be going directly from winter to summer without even a pause for spring.

High today is predicted to be 86 degrees; tomorrow is supposed to be 90, and we're not even halfway through May.

What's it like in your part of the country?

80 degrees predicted for today ..... back down to 65 for a high this weekend.

The usual roller coaster of weather from mid April to Memorial Day.

it's 79° feels like 80°. So pleasant. Spent last summer in Little Rock and it was most unpleasant weather wise.

It's only about 40 miles from where I live (Gilmer County), but it takes two hours to get there because there are basically no east-west roads in the north Georgia mountains.

The last couple of weeks have been achingly beautiful. The honeysuckles (wild azaleas, not the invasive vine), mountain laurels, rhododendrons, and pink lady's slipper orchids are blooming, and the hillsides are springing into life with innumerable shades of green. We could actually use some rain, though, as the pollen is HORRENDOUS. Thank goodness for Flonase.

.....so we expect it to start getting hot this time of year. We just got a new swamp cooler, which the boyfriend/handyman installed yesterday. 76 inside....ah bliss! Until the typical spring/summer rains hit and it gets muggy and sticky. Swamp coolers won't do much good then. But for now, it's very comfortable.
