My dad is still fighting cancer. It continues to be very hard on him. My dog Gordon had a high white cell count and enlarged lymph nodes during the last vet visit. Hopefully infection since he is mostly acting himself. Just acting a little older as he's 10. And I am in a bad financial situation. Just so many things going on. If you have thoughts and prayers (if you do prayers), they would be appreciated.

(24,110 posts)Not a big believer in prayer, but I do hope, if there is a God, your prayers will be answered and all of you will soon be on the mend.

That's precisely why St. Jude's been my go to Saint since I was a very little girl in Catholic School, because NONE of my prayers were ever left unanswered.

(7,566 posts)I am a cancer survivor so do not give up hope...I thought I was going to die but here I am 10 years later. I have a precious little girl......her name is Fajita...she is a 4# Chihuahua who has been through thick and thin with one ailment or another and she is cuddled up next to me now sound asleep..so do not lose hope for your precious Gordon......dogs are amazing about what they can overcome. Bless you, your dad, and your beautiful Gordon.

(203,030 posts)I've been where you are, my Dad had cancer, too, and I know that helpless feeling. And my puppy just turned 12, hard for me to believe, and he's fine, but I worry. Sending you all I've got...

I got help a few years back for which I was very grateful and would like to help.

(65,148 posts)I am just trying other things first. My parents are also not well off. I have some rich relatives (a couple have briefly been in the news in a way I don't like) but they aren't very generous. One I am closer to and has helped before, but afraid to ask. I might set up one as a last resort.

(65,148 posts)Gordon has acted the best he has been in a while. Barking for his jerky treats when he heard me this morning. The vet wanted to have a biopsy, but we decided to wait a couple weeks and see how things look then. Glad he's been acting like this.
