NASTY storm. Possible tornadoes touched down in northern Fairfield County where I live.

(7,627 posts)Maybe you can find a bar that's open where you can camp out..
As for us, we are south of Richmond, va just past the line of storms. Lucky this time. Whenever there are severe storms we lose power for days..

(4,112 posts)A lot going on in Manhattan this week. Uber was over $500. A colleague just called a car service she uses and they'll take me home for about $200, but not for another hour or two. Still seems like my best option.

(979 posts)And I pay attention to the weather. I think Waterbury took the brunt of it, but that was me looking at radar. Anyway, I think nasty is almost gone. It has stopped raining here. So hopefully you get home soon!

(4,112 posts)Yup - been a long day. Had to be in for a 7:00 a.m. meeting.
Well hopefully they get the trains up and running and no one was hurt. I did read though that power is out some places. I came here from Missouri a couple of years ago and I expected this weather there, but not here!

(4,112 posts)I'm on Harlem line. Worst case scenario, I could take NH line to Stamford and have my husband pick me up there.

(17,266 posts)so I packed up the laptop and ran for the elevator to race the storm. 3 minutes into my 6 minute walking commute home the rain poured down, so I lost the race. Id invite you over, but this is our first couple days living in Manhattan and all we have is 2 chairs, a coffee pot and one bed 😬. The rest should arrive over the next week.
Good luck.

Avoided most of the rain between car/restaurant/friends house in DC suburb; forecast for rain/t'storms all night here.

(130,825 posts)Neglected to mention I grew up in/around NYC, Dad's office overlooked Bryant park, and he commuted on LIRR. I don't recall an adventure such as New Yorkers experiencing today in the 'old' days!

(4,112 posts)Finally home, and there was a lot of tree damage along the route. Power was out in a big area, until I got to my street.

(205,055 posts)The weather lately has been pretty harrowing. I'm upstate - about an hour north of Albany - and weekend before last we had a terrible storm, tornado warnings, torrential rain and high winds, trees down and power outages all over. There were places that didn't get power back till Tuesday! Glad you're safe!
