That ad seems to always pop up every time I am viewing a video and for some reason he just drives me insane. I can't really put my finger on it, but he just gives me the willies. Am I alone in feeling this way?

(47,209 posts)That came w a flocked ocelot. She was Honey West, a detective and I think her cat was named Bruce. Any connection?
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,279 posts)The name is a variation on the book, The Velveteen Rabbit. I just happen to also like ocelots.

(47,209 posts)THat were actually handcuffs and her wardrobe was pretty much a cat suit and a trench coat, so cool. I loved both the show and the doll.

(23,815 posts)...The Velveteen Rabbit book makes me all teary - I don't even have to read it. Same thing with The Rainbow Bridge.

(202,974 posts)He used to be on Law & Order: SVU! And it's not only a clever idea, but I totally identify with the guy who loses his phone between the seats! Who came up with this seat design anyway? I am always losing stuff in that narrow space - keys, my pen - and I'm not crazy enough to fish for them while I'm driving, but I have to take my rings off and painfully jam my hand down there...

(7,220 posts)as in, he was looking for a hotel room because he'd been caught cheating on his spouse. Or so the commercial implied. I remember thinking "really? this is your target audience?"
Another version had a bunch of incompatible jackasses sharing a room together (one was a slob, one was a party animal, etc). Again, they're going for a demographic, but even if said demographic exists, no one wants to admit that's what they actually are.

(7,220 posts)All of their spokespeople are horrible human beings.
--The mom who belittles her nearly-adult son by implying he is an idiot for getting a flat tire in the middle of the night (calls him "THIS GUY" --Uh, I just want to c__t-punch her and call child protective services
--The snotty African American woman who rants "What are you supposed to do? Drive 3/4 of a CAR?" Do we really need such a negative stereotype right now?
--The millennium valley girl who LOVES her car nd names her car Brad and then TOTALS him, apparently without remorse. Annoying as hell.
--Worst of all (and it's tough to pick a "least fave" here), the "boom" guy. In my perfect world, he would self-immolate.
Special mention to the DirectTV commercial where the woman is smugly committing a crime by destroying her boyfriend's property--by throwing his belongings out a 2nd story window, breaking his guitar and DVD player, among other things. Is this supposed to be okay because she's a female and (presumably) has been wronged somehow? Again, do we really need these negative stereotypes right now?

(16,646 posts)But if we're doing the "ads that are inappropriate" thread, that ad where the girl friend is throwing her SO's stuff out the window is offensive as hell. It's basically making a joke out of domestic violence. I think it's for Direct TV or something.
