My sweetie just gave me a bottle of Diamond Reserve Tabasco Sauce.

It's a limited edition bottle to celebrate Tabasco's 150th anniversary and it's awesome. In fact, it's so awesome that I went onto the Tabasco website to try to lay in a small supply, but, alas, it's nowhere to be found. However, it's now selling on eBay for between $100 and $2,500 (!?!) a bottle. The original price was $35 for a 6-ounce bottle. It's made with peppers aged for 15 years instead of the usual 3 and it uses sparkling white vinegar instead of the regular white distilled vinegar.

It tastes like regular Tabasco sauce, but with a much deeper, richer, more complex flavor. It's also a lot thicker than the regular Tabasco sauce. I guess I'm going to have to ration it, but oh my, is it good. It turned my ordinary scrambled eggs into an event. It really is wonderful, sigh.

Is anyone else a Tabasco sauce fan and lucky enough to have snagged a bottle?
