He's had a history of injuries and inexplicably bad seasons for no reason whatsoever. He consistently follows them with incredibly good seasons. You take the bad to get the good.

At this point, I'd rather bounce him to the 15-day DL with a phantom arm-fatigue (like the Sox did with Matsuzaka before) since there is something off in his mechanics which might be a sign or precursor of injury anyways, get him looked at and see if that shakes something loose. Maybe he'll come back hitting 99 on the gun and buckling knees with the breaking pitches again.

so he should have time for himself on those days. (Not to mention it's 18 off days in season, but they also have three+ months off each year in November, December and January offseason.)
