I'm not a bagel snob, but I give wide berth to a cinnamon or blueberry bagel.

(16,373 posts)Either an Everything or Cinnamon Sugar, toasted with just a "touch" of butter. I tell them several times..."just a little bitty bit of butter" and they still slather it on so it melts all over me. Yes, I realize this is a First World Problem, but you asked.

(63,221 posts)I used to go to H&H when I lived in NYC. I miss having a good NY bagel place. Lox, red onion and capers is the way to go.

(9,256 posts)In college I worked at a Jewish deli and they would lightly butter the bagel, brown it a bit on the grill and serve with cream cheese. Totally wonderful. I served countless bagel combos with lox, whitefish etc. but this Lutheran never developed a taste for the smoked fish.

(22,685 posts)sprinkled on top. We have one of the most amazing bagel shops here in Detroit. It's called The Detroit Institute of Bagels. Their poppyseed bagels have so much topping on them, they're totally black. And their everything bagels are the best I've ever had.

I was just in NY and ended up with an everything by accident, but the rest was perfection.
