Saw "A Star is Born" - excellent

Have never seen the earlier versions but this one kept me interested, wanting to know where it will go. No, did not know how it ended; spouse, who has seen at least one of them said that this is how it always ends.

Bradley Cooper sings nicely and Lady Gaga really holds the movie. The final credits moved fast, but I wondered whether she wrote all the songs.

One thing that bothered me: I thought that she was supposed to be a balladier, like Joni Mitchell, or Joan Baez or Sarah McLachlan (obviously I have not kept with all the singers of the past decade).

Instead, when she appeared on SNL, they turned her into a Beyonce, with fishnet stocking spreading her legs...

And when we existed the theater I was thinking that for every person in the news: art, sport, politics - there will be a point when the limelight will fade and that person will have to be prepared, to gracefully step down and it will hurt.

Yes, Charlie the dog was cute. He is Cooper's dog named: Charlie.

Andrew Dice Clay? A respectable appearance as Lady Gaga's dad. Impressive. Well, he, too, is getting old.

the Cooper/Gaga version dead last.

My favorite is the Kristofferson/Streisand. Cooper is too pretty to play an alcoholic has been musician. Gaga can't act. There was zero chemistry between the two of them. You could see Cooper working hard to try to get something--anything--out of Gaga but it wasn't happening.

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought the best part of it was Sam Elliott.
