(27,773 posts)I know because I had to do a paper on it in high school; however, it was a satire piece, not a true "novel"
The 1st novel using that phrase was an English novel published a couple of decades later, and I think the title was "Paul Clifford".
I forget the name of the British novelist who wrote it.
(He had a hyphenated last name)
