Really glad I fired Sirius and started listening to podcasts in the car.

I'm smarter, I'm calmer, I look forward to my commute. Listening to all that crap was junk: If it's for sale, it will slowly erode your sense of reality.

The podcasters do it for love, and get deeply into topics and bring on experts who really know what they're talking about.

So glad I pulled the plug.

I thought it was essentially ad-free radio. Am I wrong? (Probably way-wrong)

The music is fun at first but then becomes repetitive. I didn't pay for the higher-price one that included msnbc, and really, now, I'm glad I didn't.

Both offer great insight and additional details that I did not know. The Martha Mitchell episode was mind blowing. The Smartest Man in the World is by comedian Gregg Proops who is extremely pro-women. He's funny and often gets on his high horse.

actually it might be a spinoff, it's the one about Ruby Ridge. Tip for Alexa users, you need to ask for "Slate presents Slow Burn". If you ask for "Slow Burn" you get a podcast about Indian fashion!

I listen to podcasts while I clean my barn or do farm chores that are boring. When I am not listening to a library book I go to the podcasts. Mostly not serious stuff though, those times call for some light political talk or fun and offcamera looks perfect. I just started doing this a while back and am hooked.

I do use Sirius radio in my car. So many things to listen to I do not get bored at all, Broadway or classical or interviews and old time radio and all the music you would want. I just change them frequently. I cannot ever imagine getting bored again.

I LOVE Larry Wilmore's podcast. It is not done as frequently as I would like but that is a really good one.

It's hosted by a working, but not famous, actor named Matt Del Negro. He came up with it when thinking about how, as struggling actors, he and his friends have been rejected thousands of times, yet somehow they manage to keep trying. So in the podcast he talks with people from all walks of life about how they persevere. Quite a few are in the entertainment business, but he's interviewed many others as well.

I was never a fan of Black Flag (too hard core for me) but I think Henry is so cool and super smart. I loved his columns in LA Weekly (?).

Black Flag, I heard some. Not my cup of tea. The man is brilliant. My oldest son watched a show he had and I listened to a lot. When he did his 50 state tour we all went. It was such a small venue we were almost on the stage. He is, like you said cool and super smart. I love how he talks about himself as an older guy. He is not what I would have expected if I had only heard his music.

But when you've been in the public eye for almost 40 years like he has, I guess he qualifies as "older". I can see how he sees himself that way.

and it always surprises me to hear someone call themselves old when I do not truly consider myself that way yet. I can feel it coming however but not just yet! I am always in awe of those who can do talk gigs like he does and appeal to such a diverse group of people age wise. I think it is his ability to respect all ages just not all the stupid in those ages. He delineates it all well. Sorry, this is a different topic really so I will stop. I was just tickled to find him on the TV again.

However, I've developed a very bad habit. I use them to fall asleep. I can't even count how many half-heard episodes I've played.
