2. the cat would be watching/ sensing those animals close but doubt it would move on a possum or

large rabbit and just lay still. Could be in the shadows watching closely though.not coming out but its smell could put some stress on territories of the animals maybe but if they are ill, I go with animal gone type chems on the course

In the average forest, though, there are generally plenty of smaller game for cats to hunt.

coyotes. My current cat was feral until I trapped him and while he was still outside, he hung out with a juvenile 'possum. He's still friends with a 'possum that comes to our window.

We saw a dead rabbit, which was intact about two months ago. No signs of trauma. And today, in the same area, there was an adult possum that looked like it was mostly eaten. Vultures were picking what was left. I saw a scat of beauty berries nearby, which looked like whatever dropped it was not in any hurry. I don't know if the possum was poisoned, died, and then eaten by anything that was hungry enough to eat it, including a cat that looked full bellied.

7. Raccoons will eat anything and can be really aggressive. That might be a possibility. I r/o

would start wondering about pesticide exposure (rabbit) and maybe a poisoned rat ('possum). Poor critters.
