Need recs on best phone plans out there for the wife.

We are on Cricket right now. 2 phones 70 a month. Not unlimited but more than enough for the both of us.

She went to look at a new phone and they have no deals at all. Actually want to charge her $25 to upgrade.

What plan would be comparable? We have no complaints about coverage and price. Just wondering if there's better plans out there.

Thanks in advance.

I had Republic for a while but I didn't like the phone. $20 a month. I was on a waiting list for a month or so to get on though.

We switched from Verizon to Sprint because it was half the price ($180/ month for 3 phones) but it's got a limit on the data per month. I'm going to see if we can switch the plan.

https://www.consumercellular.com/ If you belong to AARP you get a discount too. I'm paying $45 a month for unlimited. They claim the average customer pays $25.00 per month

You can choose fro a bunch of good inexpensive phones.

Works everywhere there is cell service (even Quebec).

Pay as you go - no monthly bills.

Minute cards are available everywhere (and you can do it over the phone with a credit card too).

It all depends on use. I had a temporary one (my phone was dead and I was waiting on a new one) and it is definitely not for a heavy user.

I suppose if you're the type that has a landline and barely uses a cell, it is fine.

I pay less than $30/month - 1 phone, lowest voice level/unlimited texting (which is what I use most), and 2gb data - way more than I ever use.
My data plan started at 500gb - last year they upped it to 1gb with no plan increase and they’ve just upped it again to 2gb with no increase.
My cost includes taxes, fees and an aarp discount.
I’m satisfied with their coverage although there are times I can’t get internet coverage and other folks with Verizon can... it doesn’t happen enough to justify paying double.

Wife and I converted over a bit over a year ago. If one person is 55 or older it has unlimited talk, text, and data for $60/month for life, for 2 lines, all taxes and fees included. (Someone told me that they raised the price to $70/month now, but there may still be a discount if you use autopay.)

I've been with T-Mobile for a lot of years (my old plan was $20 month for 60 minutes talk only, no text or data!) and have never really had a problem with their service.

Buy your own phone and it's $35 all month for unlimited talk, text and data. The first 3 GB of data is high speed, but even regular speed us fast enough for general surfing.

Seriously though, the only service that works in my hometown is Version. No service with any other carrier until one is a couple of miles out of town in either direction.

I'm low maintenance, only use the browsing a couple of hours three times per week, supposedly got a serviceable Samsung android for switching. Yeah, I use up the monthly speed allowance in the first five days, but whatever the slowness is isn't that noticeable for my purposes.

Only $19/mo. + tax with AARP (-10% I believe) for basic unlimited phone. Great customer service. They use AT&T's tower network but we don't have to deal with T's bullshit. I buy basic phone service only and the wife buys phone and data.

They send you a SIM card that will work with phones previously used with AT&T or T-Mobile, or an unlocked GSM phone. They also have plenty of new phones available.

See: https://www.consumercellular.com/

Good luck with making your choice.................
