From Booker T and the MGs to the Blues Brothers and hundreds of Stax recording artists, Duck's bass lines were clean, powerful and interesting. Greatly influenced my playing and music is better because of him.
RIP Duck.

(30,885 posts)...I was hoping that the resulting album would be so much better than it was, and that was primarily all on Neil. It just wasn't his strongest batch of songs and is largely considered to be an "uninspired" effort (even though it included his response to 9/11, "Let's Roll" .
A lot of people refer to the album as the one Neil made with "Booker T & The MGs," but it was just Booker T. and Duck. Crazy Horse guitarist Frank Sampedro was along for the ride, and Steve Potts played drums...the cousin of original MGs drummer Al Jackson Jr.
R.I.P., Mr Dunn.

(7,658 posts)Wondered if you'd gotten it. If not, I'll look in my sent file and copy it and send you a PM here. In fact what the hell, I'll just do that now (and maybe add a little bit to it too).
And yeah, sad news indeed about Duck Dunn. One of the all time great groovers, and by all accounts a real good guy too.

(19,372 posts)Yeah, I never had the opportunity to see either Dunn or Cropper play. And I have heard Dunn was a good guy too. He'll be missed.
