Personally, I like the stuffing the best. I can also be talked into pretty much any of the side dishes. I never liked turkey so I don't eat it.

(3,275 posts)Mom would always make so much food that our fridge would be full of leftovers. I loved it.

(13,565 posts)I bought some extra turkey wings to roast off in advance so there will be lots of drippings for gravy.
A slice of bread with gravy on the weekend is a treat reminding me of my father.

(3,473 posts)It's an old family recipe that uses among other things homemade bread, turkey and a good amount of butter.#2 would be the sandwiches I make with the leftovers. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, creamed peas, sweet potato casserole, and gravy on a hoagie roll.

(11,909 posts)Our Thanksgiving is going to be kind of screwy. I postponed our traditional dinner until Friday. It's my brother's first T'day since losing his wife in July. He's going to spend it with his step daughter and her family, but their traditional dinner for holidays is a big Italian feast. He is not happy with manicotti instead of turkey. We're both on a local townie FB group where the talk was about everyone's favorite dishes. He was saying what his favorites were from when we were little so I'm fixing those to go along with the turkey on Friday.
If nobody in my husband's family invites us to dinner on T-day, I'm planning on having dinner just for our family of 4 (maybe 3, our 18yo son might go to his girlfriend's). We'll have Balsamic Glazed London Broil, rolls, roasted cauliflower, baked sweet potatoes, coleslaw, and Delilah's Frozen Delight - raspberry meringue over a nut crust). I invited them to dinner on Friday. My brother knows them all, and I believe my son is having his girlfriend over, so the family can all meet her.

(205,074 posts)I really didn't need anything else. I'd even eat more of it cold later at night from the fridge.

(11,909 posts)I also always looked forward to fixing a bowl for a snack or lunch the next few days (shredded turkey, stuffing, and gravy), or a sandwich with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo.

(63,221 posts)Just plain w/ milk, butter, salt and pepper. No fancy ingredients like cream cheese, sour cream, other kinds of cheese, truffles, etc.
They are great w/ gravy over them or just some butter. The next day I like to make re-fried mashed potatoes w/ a little onion or scallion.
