"A god thing." I live in an red area and attend 12 step meetings.

And it’s getting to where I have to bite my tongue when I hear that phrase.

I think it’s a crock. People usually use it to mean “something turned out that was fortunate for me or someone close to me.”

Yesterday at a meeting a woman said that her son was talking to a coworker of hers that he ran into somewhere in town. The son ratted her out as being a member of a supposedly anonymous 12 step group, and the coworker was also a member of that fellowship. And the woman said, it was a God thing!

Another woman said, “so much for anonymity.” Which restored some sanity to the conversation.

Tells him to shut up, THAT is a jerk move.
And the woman he told, how limited is her understanding of the anonymous part that she did not tell blabbermouth what a violation that was.

🤦🤦🤦🤦

I would go to NA meetings with her, but there were a lot more AA meetings so we would also go there.
I was so put off by the church revival atmosphere that I found it hard to participate. Found a group called SOS - Secular Organizations for Sobriety. Much different approach than AA. Might be a chapter in your area.
