(115,669 posts)I can't stand most of the rest of them - too sappy and sentimental. Bah, humbug.

(796 posts)with Adam Scott and that Koechner guy. great, fun, dark AF but speaks to the need to retain the core basics of Xmas season.

(25,456 posts)I once had a roommate who watched "Wonderful Life" every day the entire month of December (an OCD thing). Strangely enough, I didn't mind a bit and still enjoy it. Kind of a miracle.

I also find old Martha Stewart Christmas episodes soothing, although I can't help smirking when I remember SNL's Martha Stewart Topless Christmas Special.

(22,250 posts)I think we discovered it as a rental, and later found it on DVD from (of course) Amazon. We watch it every year. It was featured at a Sundance Movie Festival and shot at Sundance Resort.
Really nice story and characters but my favorite is Graham Greene as a vegetarian chef who is continuously trying to convince the diners to order his vegetarian dishes.
There are crossed up communications, Bingo fanatics, romance, mistaken identities, lots of funny lines and of course gorgeous scenery.
If you can find it give it a try! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221074/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl Not much on imdb I may have to get in there and dress this listing up a bit. I searched around on my streaming channels; if you have Hallmark Movies Now you can see it there. I guess if you have cable with Hallmark channel it is available.
Of course we love the Old Standbys too. Another less well known one is the original Laurel and Hardy version of "Babes in Toyland" now known as "March of the Wooden Soldiers" According to this https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024852/ it is streaming on Prime!
Hokey as hell, silly as all get out, and great fun. One of our local TV stations back in the 60s must have owned a copy of it because it would just show up unannounced when there was time to fill (remember that?) It has become a family favorite - I called one of my sisters one day and she told me we only had 15 minutes because it was coming on in 15 minutes! That was before I found it on DVD and ordered a copy for each of us and my daughter.
