Of course many historical and current monarchies are defined as such; including the Kim Monarchy in North Korea, and the organized crime family in the White House today.

They've changed it a little since the old days. Now the Champion carries the Royal Standard in the Coronation Procession.

BTW the current Champion, one Francis John Fane Marmion Dymoke, is a chartered accountant. He probably wishes the Champion still engaged in mortal combat on occasion; chartered accountancy is not the most exciting of professions.

archaic things will change when Charles is king, but William? While he, Kate, and the kids won't exactly move into Council housing, I suspect that a many, maybe most of these outdated things will go away.
