Play the "Hail to the Thief!" song lyrics game...It's fun!
Listening to stirring rendition of "Hail to the Chief" played during the transport of Poppy Bush's body this morning, I was struck by the obvious thought that Trump will be known to history as the so-called President who inspired "Hail to the Thief!" So, I propose this little game.
There are three simple rules: 1) You must use the same rhyme words (or words quite close--the closer the better) in the same places as the original "Hail to the Chief" (nation/all/cooperation/call, etc.). My version uses "station" for "nation" but the rest are exactly the same. 2) Your lyrics must be reasonably sing-able, in terms of rhythm/meter, to the melody of "Hail to the Chief." 3) "Thief" must be used in place of "Chief."
Here are the original lyrics:
Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation,
Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all.
Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation
In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call.
Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander,
This you will do, that is our strong, firm belief.
