Wondering if anyone, as a kid, actually had this yelled at them, or a variation of it.
I remember being maybe 3 years old, and I was riding my tricycle in the street, next to the curb as my maternal grandma walked along side. She lived next door to me. This was a dead end, rural street, no traffic. Well, I managed to get the front wheel of my trike over the curb and the front wheel just into the grass in this man's yard. He was on his porch, and started screaming at me to get off his lawn, before he called the police. I was TERRIFIED. I really didn't know who the police were at this age, but I knew the way he was yelling it was NOT something I wanted. Then, my grandmother yelled back and told him to shut up and such. I was so traumatized by this that it was years before I could go past that house without being anxious about him being mean to me again, and I was scared of him til he moved away when I was about 8.

(2,034 posts)Playing street ball with a tennis ball. Went into neighbor's yard and into his flower bed. Was about 10 years old. He comes running out his door yelling that he was going to send our parent's the bill for fixing his flowers. Nothing was damaged, but it scared the hell out of all of us. But it didn't stop us from playing ball the next day in the same place.

Every November 1st, he would spend quite a bit of time cleaning the TP from his trees and the eggs off his house. I don't know if he ever put two and two together.
