as the first note built up layers I kept expecting laser beams and a TSO guitar solo.

Otherwise hauntingly morbid and tedious, but the Vikings had apparently only invented microphones and sticks. I can see how death metal may have sprung from this.

The practitioners describe it as the kind of music they think Vikings would dig. Here is a sample from Amon Amarth. I dig the front man's vocals.

Actually, I can imagine Hagar The Horrible playing this through his headphones as the ship sails toward his next castle victims. Everything I know I learned in the comics.

And it totally blew me away. I'm certainly a fan now.

If you can find the whole concert on youtube it is well worth the watch.
Plus if you look into the comments of the singles on youtube some helpful people have given explanations and translations of the lyrics much of which has originated in ancient rune stones/writings.

I'd love to know more about it all as it is quite fascinating plus my dog heard it and he is a wolf now.

Lifa, that is. Of course you don't get the visuals that way, but it was worth contributing to them.
