But then they walk over or under each other so they are straight at their bowls. Strange animals, lol, but I love them.

Their physics is entirely different from ours because they live in an alternate universe. I have seen this.

They shuffle around and change plates and nose into each others' plates but I don't worry because it's obvious that none of them are starving. I just don't get why they make it so complicated.

The first cat is the white one who prefers an elevated eating position, and is an asshole for walking over his mates' food with the same paws used to cover up his feces.

The second cat is the orange one who prefers his food bowl without poop diggers in it.

The third cat is the black one who values expedience over ergonomics.

Our orange friend was first, being the direct to the bowl, consumption over style type. Back in black was second, lining up dutifully at the third bowl for a community feed. White snake was last, not content with having the last choice and actually suspicious that the others had chosen the best bowls, so reasserting his dominance and disdain by rejecting his assigned ration and climbing over White snake and into the power position on 3, forcing Back in black to a position of utter subjugation.

Maybe black cat was first and orange cat wasn't going to eat next to his ass so he picked the middle having to go underneath and the white cat was last and picked the shortest route.

It's also possible they all got there simultaneously and that's just the way it worked out.

The moral of the story is there's just no reconciling human and cat logic.

who burrows into the middle bowl and thinks the other two are idiots for not diving right into that bowl instead of crawling over the other bowls and having to eat next to each others' butts.

The black and white cats typically wanted what each other was eating - because it must be better!
